How to create a 2 curved edge piece
-
I've used Sketchup quite a bit, and hence am not a complete novice. This piece however is eluding me. I'm not sure how to get this into a solid piece as if you could push/pull the leftmost end to make it into a solid.

Hi Foigts,
First of all, I made a group of the two, long pieces so geometry won't "stick" to them. Also, I turned on endpoints in the style dialog so that I can see where I am snapping.
Then PushPull your face to the nearest endpoint (the image already shows it in progress)
Then used the scale tool to adjust its width to this endpoint
Then the scale tool again to adjust its height
Then go on by PushPulling to the next endpoint and so on until you come up with this (it's already softened, endpoints hidden again and grouped geometry removed as it was duplicated anyway):

I know people will suggest all sorts of plugins (and they are indeed cool) but you need to be able to build everything by hand, too. The whole thing (including taking snapshots for the above images) was less than two minutes. -
One question. How is that you scaled each section between end points without effecting the shape that you are pulling prior to that point? If I scale the end of what I have pulled, it scales everything that I have pulled before it also. In other words there aren't separate sections between endpoints like you have pictured.

I got it. You control/pulled to duplicate the surface before pulling to each endpoint.

That could be an option but here it was not needed. As soon as I scaled the first "segment", the next PushPull was already not coplanar with it so left a series of edges (if you use Ctrl+PushPull, a face is also left there - then you need to get rid of these inner faces in order to be able to smooth the whole surface).
