Plugin to project 3D object onto terrain?
-
Does a plugin exist to project a 3D object onto a contoured surface? I'm building models of Native American pueblos, which are basically just lots of boxes (rooms). I want each room to be the same height (2.44 meters), and the roof tops have to be flat, not sloped with the terrain. Further, when rooms "step" down a slope, the roof tops should also step down.
Ideally, I want something that I can do to all rooms at once, rather than having to do each room individually.Any ideas? I've attached a file with an example. Thanks!

Think of the buildings' plan as being the 'roofs'.
Make a group of the buildings' plans and use something like multiple-pushpull [or just manual pushpull each in turn] on the blocks' 'roofs' downwards so that you have a very elongated tall structure.
Position your building accurately over the terrain and move it down, constrained in the Z-axis blue [use shift] till all of the lower parts of the blocks are 'under the ground'.
Edit the building group [best to turn rest of model off here in edit menu so you can see what you are doing] and select all, intersect with model and the terrain should now show a cut line around the blocks.
Erase the unwanted bits of the blocks below the ground cut-line.
Pushpull individual block's roofs [which are all now 'flat' and will move as needed] up or down to suit their actual heights above the ground level... you can push each down to the ground - constrained to it at the high spot anyway - and then pull it up 8' as needed...
You'll have to do each in turn - there's no instant fix... -
