Making a quick e-card. need help.

Hi people!!
I've been given the task of making my office's christmas card....like an e-card which will be sent by email.
I am just gonna blend some images together in picasa to make a basic video...so my question is; which is the best format to convert the video to so it can be viewed in emails?? or am i best off to just attach the video as a mov/mpeg file? or both?
thanks in advance for any tips.

How about Flash(.swf)?
-
yeah can that be embedded in an email? so it just pops up when they open it?
-
i'm not actually sure about this but i assume it's up to the receiver's mail settings..
you could send me a .mov and i could play it directly in the message because my preferences are set to do that but i know that doesn't work for everyone..
same goes for jpgs, pdfs, (any type of file really).. some people have to manually click on a jpg attachment in order to see it while others will see it embedded in the message itself.

Hi, Oli
You probably want to go with what users already have installed - Flash will run on both Macs and PC's.
If you want, you can check out http://websitehelpers.com/video/ and see if it helps.

If it is a simple enough animation do it in .gif format. It plays in any browser, as far as I know.
-
i'd def vote for .gif too... most universal, and no issues embedding an image file in an email.

thanks guys....but i gave up eventually. the results did not warrant the time spent on it.
so im just gonna embed a nice image (posted it in the gallery)
thanks for the help anyway, at least i know how to make gifs now! cheers

well ive made the card....but still having problems.
I want to embed the image into an email (outlook).
But when I do it the standard way (Insert>Picture>From File...) the image quality is hugely reduced. I don't want to attach the image...the idea is the e-card just pops up straight away in the message-no clicking/downloading/links etc.
any suggestions? im getting well pissed off with this!

you have an old Outlook In Outlook 2010 you can select the compression, resize, effects, borders, ...
-
See if you can embed it in Gmail and send to your office address, then send it out...you can PM me your email address if you want me to try it...
