For the third challenge I scratched my head, I was divided between easy geometric of brutal organic, Eric (Boofredlay) came to my rescue and made a suggestion for a prototype couch called the Accelerate sofa, a sofa for high speed interior travelling created by Phillip Grass.

It should give enough complexity for both advanced and moderate users, may be a little difficult for the noobs, but that should not stop them from trying.

      Have fun.

feeling out an approach.. tried it with the scale tool at first but figure it would end up taking a long time fiddling around..
gonna try this approach which took less than ten minutes.. some of the blends may prove difficult but this one is doable for sure.. hopefully 15+ submissions for this thread..

Here's a quick stab with SDS. Proxy needs more work, but it's getting there.

Here is my first shot. Ok I confess, it is my second shot. I tried this couch about a year ago and gave up too soon. I guess I have learned a few things since then.

                      Nice work Jeff.

For the proxy I only used native SU tools. Then I ran Subdivide and Smooth, 2 iterations. Then for the lines I "unhid" most then connected others with Tools on Surface, mainly the line; the arc had some funky results.

I added the lines and used a heavy profile as well as depth cue for these.

mine needs a redraw from scratch to get some of the parts better but i'll pass..

                          Great work!

Boo, could you possible use the 2D tools line styles to add weight to the lines to make them renderable?

Not sure. I have not used the 2D tools at all.

you could maybe use tools_on_surface offset to make a paintable strip for rendering ?

Well the lines are on the model. I just unhid ones that were where they needed to be and used TOS to fill in the gaps. And I also used the knife from SDS to do the lines across the seat and back as the mesh did not align properly.

I can share the model tonight when I get home.

                                        Eric,

Thanks for sharing the model. I isolated the lines and ran the convert lines to cylinders plugins at 1/2" and 6 segments. This made the lines renderable. Added to that a quick Sepo pencil overlay.

Unfortunately converting the lines to cylinders also doubled the file size.
