The computer that's number one in consumer satisfaction
-
I think they are funny....and I am one of the hugest Mac haters out there.
Macs make good commercials and good mp3 devices. The rest is just overpriced, overhyped machines sold mobbing hipsters.

They only make these ads when they fear PC gaining popularity, windows 7 has many folk very happy at moment, so these negative ads are the best Mac can do.
I find them funny, and desperate, I also commend MS for not stooping to this level and rebutting them.
They may be best at customer support, but let's face it they suck at software support.
-
He he he... Pete has nailed the reason why I find this ad funny: It smells of desperation. Just look at the lady's phony smile.
Macs are sometimes considered the computers for graphic designers, because Photoshop and Illustrator were originally Mac-only... but now they have been on Windows for years.
-
While I do laugh at these ads I think its not a great way of doing business. Apple IMO have no need to and appeal to people at this level. All they have to do is let the continuing word of mouth for its satisfied users do the job for them. Been using Mac now for going on three years and no glitches of any consequences. While OSX is not perfect it does run very smoothly, hopefully Win 7 will bring the same smoothness of operation to ardent Win users.

Um... Mike what are you saying? we Windows users are plebs and Mac users are pretentious wads?
-
No, not exactly. All I am trying to say is that from my Win experience I spent a lot of money on repair and maintenance, not so with OSX and Mac. I hope Win7 will be trouble free for its users.

I have a Mac 20" intel dual core, I have not had many problems with it so far, however that's 'cos there really is not much software worth shit that works on it.
So it is now my official oversized Ipod...works great as an ipod, but for serious work I rely on my PC. -
I understood "at this level" as referring to what is obviously a negative campaign of attacking its main competitor. That's pretty low from Apple. I'm glad Ballmer, clueless and sweaty as he is, does not resort to openly attacking the competition in TV commercials. Instead, he prefers to amuse us with his craziness.

It looks like MS have made a good job of Win7, just read thisOS deathmatch: Snow Leopard vs. Windows 7 by Preston Gralla

-
Mike, I only need to mention one, one I need daily...Vue, even though there is a Mac version it sucks, getting full Mac 64 bitsupport with Vue has proven almost impossible.
There are many others that do not work on Mac, I do not know them off the top of my head as I do not use a Mac for real work hence I have not had to be disappointed. With that said, if Mac was compatible with frequently needed apps then Boot-camp, VM, parallels and so forth would not be Macs most used apps. -
Point taken.
-
i run both, and each has their issues.
IMO though macs are for posers, that was the only reason i got one, i do still use it for the odd thing, but i will always end up going back to my pc.
a guy at uni kept banging on about his mac, it does this, it does that blah blah blah.
he asked me what i have, and i told him about my current rig, and he kept going and slagging of my computer saying macs were the best etc.then i asked him how much his cost, and told him what i got for my money.
never seen someone shut up so quickly.
another point, if microsoft made ads like these, i bet you a pound they'd be vilified, that's probably the only thing stopping them.
rude apple, just rude!

I don't know that much about Macs. .. I used an original macintosh in 1984. . .after that .. .nada.
I do like the "trust me" ad for mac.
[flash=853,505:2mz05qeh]http://www.youtube.com/v/1ZOop-mnKEk[/flash:2mz05qeh]by the way . .this is my first embedded video. I didn't know how to do it before. The light shines down . . .!
Looks like I still did it wrong. It's too big.

Anyone notice that the PC guy's fashion was according to the era regardless how cheesy it was yet the Mac guy hardly changed.
These are desperate Mac days.

Sure - 'beleagured Apple Computer' and so on. They really are having it tough in these trying economic times. sales are drastically down, not making any money, laying off everybody.... oh, wait, no. Dang.
If you don't like Macs, don't use them. I can't stand Windows - so guess what? I don't use it anymore! Wow, we can all be happy. You can feel smug about only paying $X for your box and I can feel smug about being less annoyed by my computer. Everyone wins!
And while you're claiming that you Dell/HP/whatever is so much cheaper than an Apple, somebody else will be sneering at you for having wasted money on a pre-built machine when everyone knows you can build your own monster machine sooooo much cheaper by getting a case from here (just take care putting your hands anywhere inside it, sharp edges dontcha know?) and a motherboard from there and a CPU from this guy down the bar and a disk from Fred who seems to get them off the back of delivery trucks and download some OS from a radK00l site. And somebody else will be sneering at them for being such a dweeb for wanting a computer in the first case because pencil and paper is the only honest way to draw and dammit you should bake your own charcoal anyway and make paper from the rest of the tree you felled your own self - using an axe you made from a bit of flint and some sinew taken off the limb you had to amputate last week after a hunting accident.
And as it happens I have built my own computers before now. I built the motherboard, helped design the cpu, helped write the OS, made a case. Buying a Mac is a lot less painful.
-
Phew Jim, that was a mouthful....but you don't get it still
You are comparing Apples to Dells, we are talking about software not hardware.
We are talking about those negative adverts that Apple feels best sells their product. You mention Lot's about hardware, but we are talking about software, operating systems, specifically Snow Leopard and Windows 7, I do not see the Mac ads mentioning Dell, Toshiba, Sony, Acer, etc, no, they are attacking Microsoft windows.
-
are the ads really that offensive?
stupid? maybe but...[edit] fwiw, that japanese version is great
i wish they'd air those ones in the u.s. -
haha
