Problems Projecting Image on Curved Surface
-
Hi,
I am trying to build the model of a double decker bus and I would like to apply to the surfaces some pictures. I have a problem in attaching pictures on curved/irregolar surfaces, I'm not sure that this is the best technique. Any suggestion?I attach the file (pictures in the file are just temporary, I'll take my own if I understand how to do that)in particular I don't know hot to attach/project the picture on the front of the bus.

Hi Luca,
First of all, soften the edges where needed (the bus' front).
Then you have to very carefully align the face you apply the image at the beginning - perpendicular to the direction you want to project and its height and width also need to be the exact same as the surface you want to project on.
Now position your texture, make it projected and sample it then apply it in the curved front of the bus.
The same with the side (notice that I made the textures unique and also downsampled them a bit).

Thank you very much!
The last thing, after I have smoothed the surface (I am replicating your modifications on my model) I right click on the texture and I select "project" but I can't project it on the surface, what is the procedure?
Thanks again... -
You make it projected on that flat face in front of the bus.
Then sample the projected image Alt + :paint) and it will not only pick the texture image but also its position and projected state. Now release the Alt key and paint it on the front of the bus.
Also this is why it is very important to correctly align that free hanging face with the front of the bus.
