Where do photoreal people live
-
Hi everyone, does anybody know what is the best source for Photo real people (free or payed)?
and what are the best technologies for incorporating them within SU-Podium workflow?
I remember there were RPC people but I don't know how to incorporate them into this workflow?
What are the new advanced ways of doing it?
Maybe someone can even post "how it all worked out".
Dennis -
This post shows where I go for people.

fantastic source.
However, something tells me there is got to be other sources fitting right in to the SU-Podium workflow -
Just curious.... a few months back I had a project that involved a mall interior, it was for a multi national chain that was opening a new store in Dubai, they initially wanted me to use people in order to give the render life, thankfully I talked them out of it and they were happy with the people free scene, had they insisted I would have been frantically searching for photo/billboard people, however my choices would be narrowed down to middle eastern ethnicity people. Had that been the case where in the world would I find a variety of such people?

You just have to pay for them. Or take your own photos. There's hardly any free cutout people, shame. Only ones I use are kropped.com and vyonyx.com
For podium renders, just make sure you have erased the white background in the person image and save as PNG. Some masking is not supported so you get 'halos' around the people which looks horrible. Then just import the image in sketchup "as image", explode it, regroup it and then render.

I considered taking photos, then realised I live in Texas, not many middle eastern folk around.

have you tried evermotion? You may be able to find a few here: http://vyonyx.com/index.php/category/down/cutout-people

Did you try Fotolia and Dreamstime?

DennisWe are trying to get ArchVision to create a RPC-->SketchUp interface which will allow RPC people to look good in SketchUp as well as all renderers. (As far as I know, they can only be, easily, used with IRender nXt currently)
This would be a free interface for RPC subscribers.
Question: Is anyone using RPC now (for Revit, 3DS, Photoshop, etc.)?
And, if so would you like to be able to use them directly in SketchUp (they would just work in SketchUp - no external renderer required).

fotolia seems good,
hm, It is hard to believe no one lined up a business providing people for SU workflow.

i've got decent lo poly ones from Dosch3d...good as long as you dont see them too close up..

Take a look at http://vyonyx.com/index.php/category/down/cutout-people

Nice find, Eulgrand, thank you. I was about to say: "Hey let's convert them all to FaceMe components and post them here in the SCF", but after reading their license terms I'm not really sure about it:

You are allowed to include this file in any collection you like, provided that you do not remove any copyright or other proprietary notices contained in the original materials or on any such copies. However, you are NOT allowed to distribute them commercially or put them on your website for download!
I guess if we ask them nicely...

And we should add clipping polygons - for shadows.

If your going to render them I'd suggest adding them post pro otherwise they come out pretty bad in the render.
If you want to pay some dollars got3d have a good 3d collection that will work ok in renders or if you want to spend more dollars the ones from AXYZ are amazing, I bought 6 or 7 sets from them and they really are amazing quality. And they have middle eastern sets.
The other thing, is if you visit all the sites you will find they all have a fair few free samples, you end up with about a hundred by the end!

Do these AXYZ models work ok in SU, or do they require some work first?

Problem with free samples is that they are generally not allowed to be used in commercial environment. But true that you can have a decent collection after a while.

Dylan they were fine for me. The ones holding something though have to be fixed as the mapping doesn't stick!

Yes, most of the time this is true as they end up being either washed out or grayed out by the scene lights, but in Twilight Render you can force them to render unaltered:

Richard, regarding your comment about post processing. If you mean to pp the image before you apply it to the surface, what factors, and in which direction do do you apply? For example to contrast, brightness, gama, and dynamic range?
