Hey all. I am having too much fun playing with Twilight Render.
I made a piece of TR candy and I think it came out pretty darn good. So, I am posting up the model for you guys to have a shot. Or you could make your own candy. Also, this is not limited to Twilight Render, that is just what I used.

If you want to see my settings I have them posted on the TR forum here:

Note that the model is very large in physical size. I did this so I would not get any artifacts or missing triangulation due to the rounded edges.
It is so big it could be a single person dwelling.... Mmmmm candy.

You got that spot on, the hard boilings look realistic, my grandma would have been fooled.

          Hi, Good idea...

Here is my render, I don't want to imagine the taste of this candy... ๐Ÿ’š Maybe very synthetic... ๐Ÿ˜•

I have used the plexiglas preset...

          Cheers, Fred.

I'm cooking one now over the weekend, I hope it turns out nice (and that my computer doesnt randomly crash).I am using a concrete texture to bump the candy lol It's been a while since I took part in a challenge.

Fred: Which preset did you use for the first image? I was using unbiased but it was taking ages on dual core!

Remus: You should have changed the T to I ๐Ÿ˜‰ nice dof

                  Nice renders, Boo!

Hey Remus, you're render would benefit a lot from a decent studio setup ๐Ÿ˜‰ I like the DOF, though! ๐Ÿ‘

Thought of that a couple of hours in but was too lazy to change it. Similarly with the studio setup, thought about it briefly but couldnt be bothered.

I used the MLT(BPT) preset. It ran for 2 1/2 hours on a quad core.

Nice one remus. I can almost taste the orange vanilla.

In maxwell ๐Ÿ˜ž Because If I used UV Tools -spehiral map http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=10404#p68711, things became complicated. When exporting .mxs from SketchUp, the textures are exported too and if I use that plugin, I have a texture export for each face. I tried at first texturing in SketchUp, but when exporting I had a folder with almost 6000 texture images. And I think something went rong in Maxwell engine, because I could not start the render. Perhaps the allowed number of materials was exceeded, because for each texture exported Maxwell used a copy of the material, with different UV sets.

WE REALLY NEED A BETTER UV MAPPING in SketchUp
