Activate Dynamic Components Toolbar?
-
Hi all.
Can anyone shed some light on how I can activate the dynamic components toolbar?
I have downloaded a DC police car from 3DW to investigate and apparently I should be able to interact with a finger pointer. I can't activate or see the DC interact toolbar, despite looking to check the box in "Window--Extensions--" and so on.
Has this happened to anyone else and if so, I'd be grateful for some info or a fix. Thanks!

Have you looked at View - Toolbars - Dynamic Components?
Or just go to the menu and select Tools - Interact. That will activate the interact without turning on the toolbar.

Hi Nigel,
What William says. Even if you activate DC's in Preferences > Extensions (AFAIK they are set to active by default upon installing SU as I noticed yesterday with a couple of SU Free install at a school), the toolbar itself won't become visible unless you check it in View > Toolbars, too.

Thanks for the advice, William and Gaieus.
I'm trying with the same DC model as before and still no success using your suggestions. Perhaps the model isn't correct..I'll try another.Cheers,

It's a Pro 7 feature?
-
EditingDC's is a Pr 7 feature but interacting with them is a SU 7 feature in general.
But as you are saying this, Jim, I am just noticing that Nigel's profile says he is using SU 6. There are no DC's in SU 6 of course.

Gaieus,
I should update my profile to say that I am now on SU 7 Pro; had to upgrade due to a nightmare transitioning to a new laptop and SU 6 refused to stop crashing upon starting up.
I'll go update my profile while I still remember!
Cheers,
Nigel

OK, I kind of guessed that it's some old info
So could you get DC's work?

I have now solved the mystery, Gaieus, though I only half-understand..
Turns out it was a ruby of some kind, either purchased or downloaded from the kind people on this forum. Not that the ruby itself was defective - just was either replicated or was residing in the wrong folder.
My process was to remove all rubies temporarily, remove Sketch Up Pro and then do a clean reinstall. From this point I had no problem finding and activating the DC components toolbars. And, incidentally the sand box toolbar which also wasn't behaving.
I'm now in the process of adding the rubies back in, very slowly and one or two at a time, then closing and reopening Sketch Up to see which was the conflicting script.
Thanks for all the comments and support!Nigel
