I kinda need the file in sketchupthanks,

Hi David,
How "big" is that structure? I mean if you measure the edge (possible a shorter one) of those missing faces with the Tape measure tool what do you get?
SU has problems with creating very "tiny" faces (generally with edges smaller that a millimetre or about 1/16") so maybethe solution would be to import it in a bigger scale somehow.

Hi Gaieus,
sorry I took to long to answer but I had a few hard weeks... so, back to this subject...
I made a screenshot from one of the mesh problems:
http://img113.imageshack.us/img113/161/mesure.jpgI think you are right, the problem is because I have small edges
The picture that I made where there is not so many holes, I did scale alot in blender before I import to SU.anyway, thanks...
I think I will need to rebuild the mesh to have this in SU.
but if you find out any other solutions, please let me know.regards

You can also try to scale it proportionally in SU (say by 10), repair the missing faces and scale everything back (by 0.1 in this case). That's the "general workaround" in SU but of course, if you can find a better way in Blender, even better (I cannot suggest on that)

Hi Morpheu, hi folks.
When you choose 3DS in the pull down list of the import window, click on the "Options" button. Choose a unit that will cause a scaling up when importing. For example, if the model is in millimeters, import as centimeters or even meters. This will scale the model up by 10 or 1000. Then, the small facets shall close unless they are very tiny on the original model.
If it seems to work OK when in SU, scale down the whole model by the corresponding factor of 0.1 or 0.001. Notice that SU will not accept 0.001 as a scale factor. For such a factor, you must proceed in two steps like 0.1 and then 0.01 or the reverse.
Otherwise, you can repair probably all missing faces in one operation with the following procedure:
1 - Select all.
2 - Scale using a sufficient scale factor. Try 100 first.
3 - Use the Menu Tool --> Utilities --> Create Face This shall close all faces that where not, provided that their perimeter is coplanar.
4 - Since everything shall still be selected, scale down by 100 (use a scale factor of 0.01.
Just ideas.
