Save/Restore SketchUp 7 Workspace for Windows
-
Hmm, the script saves the entire Sketchup 7 registry - toolbars, shortcuts, window sizes and positions.
It should have restored everything.
-
It does save everything and thats the problem I want to keep my shortcuts as they are and just reset the toolbars.
-
I tried in a Windows Vista and all i get is " Access denied " any idea the reason ? Firewall ?
Thanks

are you using an admin account? can you right click->run as administrator?
-
Thank you soooo much!
I keep having my plugins and toolbars scrambelled and I spent so much time on arrenging them.
Thank you for saving me time -
I've made a Windows executable for saving/restoring the SU prefs (no malware, no spyware, no adware, no installation).
tested w/ XP, should work w/ Vista/7 too; even though, use at own risk.
just holler if anything doesn't work or a something is missing.

[notwithstanding how long ago these posts were..] I was really hoping your program would solve this great annoyance in SketchUp 7 running on Windows 7; here's what happens:
When I click "Save", the dialog just disappears and reappears. Then when I go to "Restore", it brings up a file dialog prompting for a .reg file.. but no reg file was ever saved (or I don't know where), nor was I prompted to save one.
As for the script that started this thread, though it's necessarily complicated (why hasn't google addressed this annoyance??), it's a lifesaver, so THANX Jim!

Open the .bat in notepad.exe, edit the number 7 in line 20 - make it an 8.

This Script is awesome, works great!
It saves me a lot of time not to re arrange my workspace on a dual monitor.
Thanks Jim -
Hi.
Is it possible to transfer tool-bar position settings between SU versions (from 7 to 8 in my case)? BackUping SU7 prefs and using this .reg file fore restoring SU8 (Windows executable by sketch3d.de) didn't work.
Thanks in advance. -

the tool did not do any version conversion, selecting the SU version has effect on backing up only.

Thank you for your help. I have tried the Right-Click > Run as Admin... and still nothing is saved. No go, it does not work. Nothing is saved. I am running SketchUp 2015 (v15.3.331) on Win8 x64, and no modification was made at time of setup - normal setup ie: C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2015.
Here are an image showing the settings prior to clicking the "Backup" button.

Scroll down to see it:
Edit : this is all fixed with BackUp Prefs 1.16 f. Windows. Yeah !!! Thank you to the developer.

NorbertScript from sketch3d.de (Norbert) looked really promissing and easy to use . Thank you. Unfortunately, no go on Windows 8.1 with Sketchup 2015 (x64) as the script opens and seem to work normally, but nothing is saved.
Tried to save in 'Documents folder" to start with, then created a folder on the desktop, still no go. So unfortunately not working for me... Thank you anyway
