      Hi all!
my name is daniel and im a landscape architect and have been using sketchup for about 4 years now and the more i use it the more i love it!
i am now going back to uni to do my master in landscape architecture and have decided to buy a computer, hopefully some of you on here could point me in the right direction for the best pc for my money.

this is what im currenlty looking at:
      http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/yoyotech-water-dragon-tempest-case-500w-phemon-coolit-water-cooler-memory-750gb-hard-drive-radeon-4890-graphics-card-bluray-reader-onboard-sound-vista-64bit-p-2513791.html

but with a graphics card up to BFG Geforce GTX 275 OC 869mb 2.0x16, and with xp pro.

      This comes in @ £949.

Has anyone used this graphics card for sketchup?
What OS ? XP Pro 64bit or 32bit, Vista 64bit, or wait for Windows 7?
Is a Solid state harddrive worth it (its another £100)?
Soory for all the questions on my first post 😄 but Would be very greatful of any advice on the best setup and hardware.

        Dan

The card works great with SU, I have the 280 and 285 (different machines) and they handle very well too.

I have the 280 on a XP Pro 32 bit and the 285 on a Vista 64 bit, no issues whatsoever, it's also good practice to keep your drivers current.

In the past I was an AMD fanboy but with the new i7's from Intel I would recommend you look into it as the performance is awesome, especially if you plan to render or use 3rd party apps like 3D Max, XSI, etc.

          Thanks for the help solo!
The system comes with vista home premium so might stick with that as xp pro is a £40 extra!
I was originally looking at intel , I currently have a pentium 4 2.93ghz system and hasn't been great for sketch and hasn't intel machine been historically a bad mix with sketch?

Do you have any experiamce with a solid state drive for programme booting?

          Thanks again

          Daniel
