I'm working on a design for a fold-able chair. Is there a way to demonstrate this capacity in SketchUp? I'm thinking of animating a scene or sequence of scenes. Also, is there a way to link components together such that they pivot on a common axis, but otherwise stay independent, like a cabinet and its door?

      Thanks in advance

      Tom

        Hi Tom,

What you are talking about can be done in a couple ways, but would be a perfect application of Dynamic Components. However, you would need SketchUp Pro to use DC's. Can we assume you do not have Pro?

Another great option is to use morisdov's proper_animation. It will allow you to set up positions in Scenes, and can animate the movement when selecting the scenes.

        Hi

          Jim,

No Pro, but that plugin looks to be what I need.

          Thanks!

that plugin looks to be just what I'm looking for to make some videos, to walk through how to fit a staircase!

Ill post a video when I get round to it!

              Thanks,

              Tom.
