Is there any way to force the View Menu option in the File > Open/Save/Save As/Export, etc., Dialogs to always display in "Details" mode ?

Interesting. Its not available through Ruby. Perhaps it is a bug on their end? Seems like it should be smart like that.

No but if you are on PC 'WinScript' stuff could do it for you by simulating clicks/keys etc - though I don't understand why you need to automate it ?

            Why?

Well at work the directories of projects are on different servers with long path and filenames and usually have many files in a directory. 90 times out of a 100, I will need to sort by date or name, plus (for me anyway) it is much easier to identify files in a single column list.

John, what is the default on your system? My SketchUp at work is defaulting to "List" every time, instead of "Detail". Is you'rs doing one of the icon options?

Chris, in SU it always goes to List display. In Windows XP, all my default Folders View is to browse and display Details.
