No. .. I have absolutely never ever ever ever felt that way. Ever. 💚

      Take a break.

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy

I am actually a 38 year old intern because of that very same feeling I had at my last job.

Burnout?, unfortunately is not an option regardless how burned out I am, as that would spell starvation and eviction as a freelancer.

But yeah, I too feel drained, mentally wasted, stuck doing boring repetitive projects, nothing that a high profile, fun, challenging, well paying assignment can't remedy. 💚

It happens time to time. You can't escape from yourself. You need outside help, a break and probably more : a breath in Nature. It's very hard to discover that you are closed to burn out, cause you are used to live with high stress level which seems to be the reference according to you.

In France we say : "Les cimetières sont pleins de gens indispensables" ( Many indispensable people are lying in cimeteries ) so....cool and
            sail away.

Sorry you have so much to worry you now. But 22 years for a cat? (Sounds like you are coming up on the plus side of things. Family and all.) 155 pounds doesn't say much.

I was burned out a few weeks ago. Too much non-design, high stress CA work. Now all I have is an occasional proposal to write. Took some time off in the mountains. Sometimes though, burnout may indicate you need to change jobs or redirect your priorities.

Thanks for the feedback. Modelhead my life sounds easy compared to yours at the moment, hope everything gets sorted for you.
Today I have come down with man flu so I think my body is trying to tell me something! I know what you all mean about a lack of the right sort of challenge makes you feel run down, I think I just need to cease the nettle. Thanks again.

I was just going to finish off 25 years and retire because after 12 years at the same squadron, it almost hurt to come in to work every day. But out of the blue I was offered a posting to Ontario and decided to take it. I have been feeling much better now and part of that process was divesting myself of 12 years of accumulated "stuff". Now I am looking forward to my last 6 years.

I suffer from serious burnout every year about this time. I know it's happening when my normally creative mind feels muddled in haze and exhaustion, my wrist ache and my hands start falling asleep from Carpal Tunnel and I wake up with pangs of anxiety. The pressure of being self employed is overwhelming at times. Couple that with the fact that I work in the field 50+ hours a week pushing wheelbarrows and laying block or stone and so my physical body becomes exhausted. My routine is usually, up at six am, work in the office till 7, load up my truck and equipment, head out to the jobsite and work till 5pm, get home around 5:30, head out to an estimate, get home around 7:30, eat a quick bite, then head into the office to work on designs, estimates, contracts, file for permits, set up materials for the next job, return phone calls, etc. I usually climb into bed around midnight, then get back up and do it again the next day. Not every day...but most are a like that. Around mid June early July, I start to feel a major onset of burnout. My eyes start going crossed when I'm looking at numbers or trying to do a creative design and I start getting really testy and short tempered. Come winter, I'm more than ready for a break, except then I have to worry about surviving for 3 months with very little income. As hard as it is, I still love my job and I know the sacrifice will eventually pay off.

@Linea....I'm just expressing that I feel your pain. Hopefully things improve for you soon and maybe getting out into nature to unwind will help to restore your energy levels.

@Modelhead...Best of luck with all your stresses, sounds like a lot at once...compounded by the fact that it involves your loved ones.

Wow Adam, I did not realize you are an entire design build team, all wrapped into one person. That is a big task to do the design, run the business, and manage the field crew. Good luck to you!

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Thanks Chris. Actually my wife helps a lot and is very supportive. She's got her own burnout from raising our 4 kids at the same time. This is my 4th year on my own. Not quite big enough to hire a project manager yet, but it won't be long. Sketchup has opened a lot of doors for me. There's nothing more rewarding than getting to build your models in real life everyday.

I had a brain stroke because of hard working, to much time without sleep.
I loose my job and my wife.
                              I'm invalid now.
                              I have three small children.
My SU hangs up sometimes 😆
