Installing Sketchup without internet connection
-
My mom's house is in 'the country' and still has no internet! So...I am wondering if I can install Sketchup for her by somehow pre-installing the .net stuff the installer seems to be going to Microsoft sites for and just skip to the part where the app itself is transferred. Thank you for thinking about this unusual situation...though in some parts of the world maybe not soooo unusual! ;o)))

Have a look at the harware and software requirements here:
http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=36208It says that the .NET framework is only needed for SU Pro. So you could install SU Free without having to worry about that framework but if you want to make everything sure, just download it fromhere and install iton the computer:

I've seen posts on other forums saying that you can simply copy the SketchUp folder from your
drive onto a USB stick and SU just works as a portable App....as the free version, of course. (Might be a useful trick when road-testing a potential new PC...to see if SU works okay.)
I haven't tried it myself, but if that is the case, it ought still to work if you then copy it to another hard drive. -
Cool folks...got back to my mom's and did the pre-install of .net...and she is a sketchupper (I am sure there is a prettier term of art for that) now!

"Sketchupper" is just fine IMO.
