Google Earth Problem
-
I am having a problem with exporting back to Google Earth in Sketchup PRO 7. My model does not end up where it should be.
If i use Sktchup PRO 6 then everything comes into Google earth in the right place.
The Geographic Location in both 7 and 6 is exactly the same but something is wrong somewhere.
Has anyone had anything similar happen to them. Any input will be great. -
I have found that if i turn off the Geo referencing before i import it works ok.
However if i select my country and city and then import from GE then then when i want to place my model back into GE then it is out bit quite a bit. -

Yes, that's the solution I was already thinking about when reading your first post.

This is because of a new feature in SU 7 now; you can keep your general model georeferenced and take individual snapshots around that close area. Note however that SU uses a rectangular, orthographically projected co-ordinate system while GE uses a spherical (lat/long) system so as you are getting further and further from your original georeference, the "distortion" is becoming more and more apparent. Only use this in very close "neighbourhoods" and keep your template file "georeference OFF" in order to avoid unexpected and unwanted glitches.
I'm alos moving this topic under the GE subforum.

Thanks for the explanation

In SU6 there is no checkbox for georeferencing under Window->Model Info->Location. If you alter the latitude/longitude entry or just select a place from the drop-down list the geo location you referenced with import of the Google Earth Snapshot will be overwritten without alerting you. I had a hard time to figure out and eventually had to re-import the Google Earth Snapshot and position my model on it again. I thought I should note this because many users are still using SU6 in their native language versions.

Also, probably notable that the free version of SU 6 (for some reason Windows only) doesn't have the Location tab at all in Model info.
