Okay, we usually have architectural stuff here and the odd car or other item rendered for display. I use SU for something a little different: stained glass windows. Here's the latest one I've made, and the SU images. Panel is 26 3/4" sq.

Hey, those are different colours! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, cool. You could easily make renders for "more real" pre-viz. of these stained glass panels. Even installed in the (models of the) rooms they are designed for.

Yes Gaieus is right, stained glass renders pretty well. Here is one I did fooling around in on of the forum glass challenges a while back. Modeled in SketchUp rendered in Kerkythea

            That looks cool.

Hmmm...gives me an idea for the next challenge, how about a stained window challenge where not only the texture of the glass needs to be present but also the filtered light and even colored light/refracted, and even diverted spectrum effects?

It's a great idea. There are so many environments that stained glass can be placed in, ( back lit from the light inside a building, in a stained glass lamp, backlit from sunlight outside of a building). Plus the textures would be a challenge.

The intersection of two hobbies, I'd definitely enter that one.

That's a very good idea. And if needed, you can print out full size paterns to work from.

I'll dig around and see if I can find the pattern I made for the Welsh flag stained glass panel I did (well, did 1/2 of ๐Ÿ˜ณ ). I made the pattern in SU, but never rendered it. (I never actually finished the project because I burned out the motor in my glass grinder and never got around to fixing it....been 3 years now!)

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Burned it out? You know you're supposed to cut little pieces to size, not grind the sheet to size right? ๐Ÿ’š

Lol, a new grinder isn't that much - heck, check Craigslist. Usually once a month someone is selling all their stuff.
