Changing to a plain view
-
Hi,
I was using sketchup 5 but recently downloaded google sketchup 7. I was just wondering how I can change it so that when I open it I don't have the picture of the man and the grey back ground? I found if I change the template from mm to meters that get rid of the picture and get the white background but I want mm not meters.
Thanks for your help,

Hi Geoff,
Those templates are simply pre-saved skp files actually. You could change the background settings and the camera placement in any of them and then save as template (under the File menu). You can change a lot of things under Window > Styles in SU 7 (this used to be the "Display settings" in SU 5).
Now if you have a favourite template but not with your favourite units, choose that template, go to Window > Model info > Units, make your settings then save the file as a custom template (like above). Now if you navigate back to your Preferences > Templates, you should be able to find this template there. Simply choose it as your default and the next "New" model will load with your settings.
