Im beginning to do some work on the landscape in my project but i dont know much about it, i have gotten the contours from the plan and used the smoove tool but it isnt very good im probable going to be using from scratch, but what i want to know is if anybody has any advice tutorials or anything else to give me a hand in this..

please note that the land does have a few vertical drops that need to be placed....

The very first "tip": with the sandbox tools you won't be able to produce "real" vertical drops. You can make "almost" vertical ones but when it comes to real vertical,it will stop working properly so you really need something manually adjusted terrain there.

            hmmm...

I dunno about the sandbox tools, it's very limited IMO.
If I was undertaking your project I'd use apps like Terragen, Vue or z-brush to sculpt the terrain accordingly.

Alternatively if accuraccy is not an issue I'd use a contour map and use the sandbox 'from contour' option, then use SDS to smooth it (after cleaning as sandbox leaves a lot of additional geometry that needs trimming)
