Shift + scroll click orbiting = bugsplat
-
Hello, I have encountered a new intermittent problem. I just received a new computer a few days ago and I have been having new issue. I often use the (shift+hold scroll button)shortcut to pan my models...problem is now I have bugsplats about half the time. Doesn't seem to be a model issue because I can make it happen even on a brand new drawing. All drivers that I can think of are up to date as well as the sketch up version.
And ideas or suggestions?
Sincerely

Hi Jeff,
How about the mouse itself? What brand? What driver? If you disable the driver, will the problem go away?

Ahhh! You might be on to something Gaieus. Its a logitech mx700 wireless...I don't remember if I ran an update or not when I transfered it over. I know it was an x86 driver on the old one...I will give it a look and then let you know.
Thank you

There are quite a lot of problems with Logitech drivers actually (myself have one, too). Sometimes they even advise not to install (or disable) the driver at all. Well, I could install it and such but then had to tweak all the functions (one cutie however; I set the Previous/Next camera location to the back/forward buttons - quite handy)

Hmmm...well my driver did need an update...however problem still exists. I like the tip about views though. I am going to use that regardless.
Oh. I also made a mistake about my processer. AMD phenom II X4 quad 970 3Ghz 64bit Not sure if it really matters or not.
I'll keep thinking

I don't think the processor should matter. Only speed depends on it. Have you tried without the driver?

However, my first guess would be the ATI graphics card. Do a test by turning off Hardware Acceleration (Window>Preferences>OpenGL). Its a hit and miss affair to find a graphics driver version that works, but you could try it. At the time, Google is discouraging people from using ATI or Intel graphics solutions on their Hardware requirements page http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36208&cbid=1tm6vzbb1xjzj&src=cb&lev=index
