Glass Challenge (all render engines)
-
Very nice! Where's the cheese and fruit tray?
OK, here's my entry. I thought the glass was OK, but the paper mat stumped me. Couldn't figure how to make decent paper, and I forgot to chamfer the edge of the mat.
Oh, well; glass of whiskey anyone?
EDIT: Forgot to mention - Sketchup + Kerkythea
-
These are 2 tests in Kerkythea.

Ok, so the right one really isn't a photo? Only the background reminds me of a render..

SU + Modo

Cheers Boo! Looks awesome!
-
great render boo, really nice!
-
So here's my try - sketchup and kerkythea.
A little bit of level adjusting and cropping done post-pro.
Still grainy.

Thanks Adam, thanks teofas.
Here are some more SU + Modo.

The only photoshop on the both photos is adjustments of brightness and contrast .

Thanks. I like it. I still have much to learn but yes, I really like it.
Oh, and all the textures I used were created directly in Modo. Modeling in SU. -

i have recently begun to use Modo and this is my result so far
As you can see, my glass and liquid material are not so good
and seeing that you got that part down, would you mind helping me out??i've only been using Modo for 2 days now....and personaly i find it a very good software....and i had no trouble yet with the transition from SU to MODO...but hey it's only been 2 days , never know what's ahead.

Rachild, rather than me trying to explain it all, check out this tutorial thread on the Modo forum. I basically followed it then did some tweaking of my own.

Well, here's my try ... Not totally realistic but I'm pleased with the result

Nice Hugo, what app did you use to render?

I went the easy way Hypershot
Tried it in Vray, but for some reason it rendered with artifacts -
here are my few maxwell versions... orchids from FormFonts and vase is a free one from TurboSquid.. just did the lighting setup, added the glass material to the vase, and some sss to the petals...
changed the lighting slightly in each, with multilight... think the last is best... cooked for an hour on low priority, still noisy, but...

I modeled this very unpractical glass, the liquid, ice cubes and the umbrella in sketchup, then imported into Max and rendered in Vray. In hindsight I should've done more target lighting and not relied on the hdri for reflections. I'm going try again tomorrow.
