i am a relatively new user of Sketchup.

I have printed 100's of prints with no problem and many of this same model, but all of a sudden when I print or print preview my image is thumbnail size. I can not get the image to fill the paper size.

I have checked page setup, select 8.5X11, tried Normal sized printed, fit to page, scaled printing all with the same results.

I am just a basic user and have barely touched on the power of Sketchup, but I must have clicked on something that changed the size of the printed image. I fill the screen with as large as image as I can get but when I print I only get a very small thumbnail in the center of the page.

      Help!

Not sure what the issue is there. A temporary work around for now would be to go to File->Export->2D Graphic to save your view as an image (if need be in the bottom right corner of the dialog box that pops up you can adjust your options like resolution and such). That way you can print the image using photoshop or the windows viewer or whatever.

          I have found the problem.

The box "Use Model Extents" was checked.

To find this screen go to File>Print, then under the section titled Print Size there is a check box in front of "Use Model Extents." This box was checked, I unchecked it and my printing size returned to normal.

Can anyone teach me what "Use Model Extents" means? I have no clue what this is for or how you would use it. Any commments?

The 'extents' are the farthest points in all directions that contain any model elements. Ordinarily, what is printed is based on what's on the screen. If you choose to print to the model's extents, that means it will shrink the model down so that the entire space fits on the printed page, instead of printing according to the current view.

                Andrew,
For me the "model extents" setting does not work that way. See attached. The first was printed when the whole model was visible on the screen, and the other when zoomed in to the area that finally got printed. Both were using the same scale (1:100). If I zoom out so that the model is just a dot on the screen, it works as it should (identical to the first one) Bug or design?

This has been confusing me for a while as well - just never dared to ask... 😳
