PROBLEMS STARTING UP
-
Hello, yesterday I downloaded the free Sketchup 7 for Windows Vista and drew some shapes, but when I activated it with the licence number after purchasing it, I could not draw anyting anymore. The drawing screen is totally white or totally black with no horizon line, and no lines nor shapes can be drawn. Any suggestions?

As a diagnostic measure, try going window->preferences->openGL and turning off 'hardware acceleration' and 'fast feedback'.
If that works: what graphics card are you using and have you got the latest drivers for it?

It definitely doesn't have to do anything with the Pro vs Free version and your licensing. In fact, although it seems to be very weird (that first it works but then it doesn't) it also seems to be a fairly frequent graphic card/driver problem.
So check out that diagnostic that Remus suggests and find out & post the details of your video card here.

Tnaks for replying, I tried your suggestion and still same problem. Sketchup is installed in laptop and drivers are up to date, so I uninstalled the software, now I can't find Sketchup 7 pro on line without going through the purchasing process again. Since I already bought it, I do not want to get charged again. More suggestions?

Thanks for responding.
I tried and still the same happended, I unisntalled Sketchup hoping to re-install it with my licence # but seems the only way is through the purchasing process, Obviously I do not want to get charged twice. I've downloadad Sketchup 6 free and seems to be working fine. Do you know how can I download Sketchup 7pro with my licence #?
How can I find what video card is in my laptop? -

Hi Joaquin,
You can also try here (the direct link to the download page):
http://sketchup.google.com/gsu7/download.htmlI still believe it's some kind of a GPU issue but if you are sure you have an adequate card and up-to-date driver then you can try to reinstall it.
