      hi,
      I tried to install the layer manager from the website of Didier Bur, but for some reason it didn't work and I removed every related file in the plugins folder, but unfortunately every time I start Sketchup7pro, I get this annoying error message;

"No such file to load -- Layer Manager/layer_manager_v6_non_crypte.rbError
      Loading File layer_manager_extension_v6.rb
No such file to load -- Layer Manager/layer_manager_v6_non_crypte.rb"

I already uninstalled and reinstalled SU,but no change.
      Help please?
      Thanks!

Are you on a Mac? There are at least 2 Plugins folders that rubies can be installed on a Mac. Or if you are on Vista, then there is something called compatibility files (GGRRRRGGRRR!!!!!HATE). If you're on Vista, navigate to your plugins folder. There will probably be a button in the top toolbar called "Compatibility Files". Click on it to find a "secret directory" that is also acting as your plugins folder. Just select it all and MOVE it back to your actual plugins folder. Then delete what you want to delete. Google "Compatibilty Files" for more info on that "feature". Mostly it just causes rage and anger at my house.... 😄

Hopefully one of those answers will help.

        Chris

I'm getting the same error message as toponypy and I am on Windows XP. Is this compatable with SU V7?

I originally installed the French version by mistake, and did NOT get the error message. I do not see anything unusual in the French folder.

                hi Lundon,
I'm on Vista, so I did what Chris suggested, and it worked.

I hate compatibility folders. I've been writing ruby scripts and find that my notepad++ struggles with saving to the true plugins folder, so it often saves it to the compatiblity folder. Then I'll have an old version inside my plugins folder, and the real version inside the compat. folder. It sure makes it hard to know what file I am actually working on, and which is actually being loaded by SU.....GGRRgrrr!

Glad you figured it out and it helped,

                  Chris

Darn. I'm on XP, yet I got the same error as noted in the first post.

Looks like it is trying to load a file from this location

                      Plugins/Layer Manager/layer_manager_v6_non_crypte.rb

Make sure that you have that folder and that file inside of it. If not, you've got it installed incorrectly. Perhaps that file is within the main plugins folder. If so, make a folder named "Layer Manager" and then place the file "layer_manager_v6_non_crypte.rb" into it.

                      Does that help?

Thanks, Chris- but that file is not in the original zip file, let alone in my folders. I even downloaded and looked in the French version and V5 of the English version.
(The only thing in the Layer Manager subfolder is layer_manager_v6.rb and 36 png files.)

Could I have gotten it from the wrong place? I downloaded it from the ruby library depot (http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/RUBY_Library_Depot.htm)?

Hm, that is probably the correct place to download it from. I am guessing he named something wrong. Try renaming the file in the folder to layer_manager_v6_non_crypte.rb That might just mess it up, but it might work.

                            Thanks, Chris.
