Just getting started- very frustrating for someone who considers himself technology proficient- although the videos help
Drawing a floorplan of a basement in 2 D-
Questions- how to pull up the walls?
How to add stairs that come down from above- essentially free floating ways the will get pulled up when I do pull-up

Hi RT,
Have a look at this tutorial on creating the 3D walls of a house. It should be similar with a basement as well (although of course, there can be several other ways, too).
As for the stairs, I'd draw one and Copy/Move it several times in a given (slanting) direction in a way described about 2/3 way down (look for "Linear array") on this page.
