the sign in window gives me this error message
sign-in error. try signingin to your google account from a web browser. 
I do all right and still get the same message... please! what is the problem? -

Please, check if you have any firewall settings that would block SU from accessing the internet. You should allow it to do so.

I had this same problem...I was super frustrated that I couldn't log in to Google.
Until I remembered to look here and fixed the problem in 1 minute by turning off the firewall.Thanks Gaieus!
