Help with Curved Surfaces and Materials Applied to converted
-
I have imported a 3ds architectural model with numerous curved surfaces. I then ran the remove unused edges ruby to remove the diagonal lines that broke all the faces in half (the orange wall in the foreground has been adjusted, the background walls and surfaces still show the extra linework)). I am now left with a curving wall made of a bunch of vertical "panels". the problem is when I use a texture like stone, the materials do not "line up" they repeat, almost like they start over again and again, I am using seemless textures from SU and other sources that I have used in the past, they also act like independent faces, I cannot paint the entire wall I have to paint each face. I am wondering if there is a way or a ruby script to merge the panels into a single wall unit, or if there is a way to get the materials to line up and stop the "repeating" look. I have attached a couple of images of what I am talking about. In the second image the low wall on the right is one that I made in Sketchup and it handels the materials fine, the building wall on the left shows the repeating issue I am having.
Thanks
Bob

To join adjoining faces in a single unit:

You could also join together the adjoining faces in a more automatic way by selection everything, right-clicking and playing with the "Soften/smooth edges" option.
