I'm working on this image for a promotional mailer for the local SARA organization to advertise their upcoming design awards. My first test image is rendering now...

I'm somewhow supposed to include 'PA Council' and '6th Annual PDA' somewhere.... they wanted it on the sign, but not sure really how to include that with that design.. I was thinking maybe a sign up in the window on the right? and/or a sign across the building on the right? Any ideas??

I'll have the rendering up in the morning...

            Hey, that looks very cool!
Very nice viewpoint, composition and the detailing is quite nice.

Will be a tough cookie to get this rendered. Maxwells multilight might be very suited for it .
Using multilight should give you the opportunity to make a .GIF animation of that Neon flashing.

              nice one,

why dont you just flag it! excuss the pun.

put two flags hanging down from each of the small trusses support the neon. Flags get good exposure by movement in the wind?

              cheers.

sorry for the tease, guys....haha... this was actually pretty clear after a few hours but i let it run all night because, well because i went to bed...haha..

anyway, here's the first pass at it.. not hating it, actually.. but let me know where i can improve.. i think i'm going to add some darkness around the edges of the glowing logo to make it look a little more realistic..

                http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/7876/sara09030909.jpg

great idea on the flags idraft... i will definitey propose that to them.. and good call on the .gif biebel! i will give that a whirl too.

                thanks.

Perhaps less light from the window's - maybe even keep them dark so that the neon's light is the only light source. The sign needs to 'glow' a bit more methinks.

I'll try toning down some of the windows, but I think some need to be one to add a little more interest.

They actually liked it, as-is...so I dont need to add any more information to it.. I'm going to detail the foreground building a bit and maybe 'try' to quickly weather it a bit... and add a little detail to that oval lit sign... thaks for the help/comments guys.. trying to wrap this up before I go away for a couple weeks.. unfortunately, its pro bono so its tough to squeeze in..

Looks good mate though for some reason it's not getting the realism I would have imagined, just not sure why?

Maybe a bit of glare and diffusion might help with that!

                          Oops sorry Defraction not diffusion!

Add a glare map, maybe a star one, then add some level of defraction that the light would get through moist night air (I think thats what causes it - I'm no scientist) though the effect can be seen in most night shots. Upping the brightness of the lights with this effect may also add some realism.

alright...here's the latest (and probably final?) pass.... thanks so much, richard...have never messed with diffraction and scattering before... very nice. i overlaid a defracted image over top of my original render and blended them a bit.... also dirtied up the foreground building in pshop a bit... let me know what you think.

Yeah mate now that has made it jump out, more so the dirty up of the adjacent wall. and the subtle flouro effect behind the lower sign! Well done mate!!!!

oh yeah, that was another thing i tried to do... made an mxi with darkened edges on that sign..and a few stripes, which i think i should have done opposite of what i did, but whatever.

thanks for your help...really up'd the quality of the image.
