Deep Exploration question

Hi!
I have some problems with exporting of skp components into max. The only oneinstance keeps assigned materials all the rest instacies have default mat."Collapse hierarchy" (in DE) solves the problem but kills relations.
Any ideas? -
I haven't really got stuck into 3DS yet but from the basic intro i had, I was told to export from SU as a .dwg then import the .dwg into 3DS. Also have each face that has the same material on the same layer eg all the window faces on a 'window' layer.

No-no-no. I'm talkin about right hemisphere's deep exploration and it's .skp->.max prosedure.
