      Dear friends,

I wish to know if you can use SketchUp on pictures.
      I explain.

I took some pictures of a rooftop for a rooftop garden project and was wandering if I can use SketchUp to show the client the transformation of the roof, whith a real view of the real rooftop.

I hope I explained myself well..

If cannot do that with SektchUp what other suggestions would you give me?

      Thanks!!!!

Search for photomatch on this site, and google for ideas.

          Photomatch?

Not sure if it is what I need but I actually would like to take a picture of a rooftop and then above it recreate the rooftop in sketchup... so it will be a true 3D image of the rooftop (or garden) and I can insert plants, structures, etc...

Is it possible to do something like that? Is this what you call photomatch?

          Thank you very much! 😛

if this is the type of thing you want to do:
            Capture.JPG.jpg
then you need to learn photomatch. checkout the sketchup users guide http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=116174&topic=13702 and scroll down to Matching Photos and Models in the camera tools sections. 😉

that usally happens when you are in a forum that you aren't a member of or you aren't signed in. one of the mods will have to answer that. you are obviously a member here. 😉

Yup, you muszt be a member and also (at least sometimes) signed in otherwise couldn't post (s a "Guest"). Maybe you weren't signed in when viewing the post with the attachment? If you still have problems, please, PM me (although you have to be signed in for that too) or use the link in my "signature" to send an email.

As for the photo > 3D model workflow; yes, PhotoMatch seems to be a good solution.
