    How to dim reflection in glass, able to see throught it?

      Hi everyone, I'm rendering wiht Sketchup 7 (plug-in Vray) and I am doin an interior render. I first had a problem with the sun comming throught the glass, in sketchup it worked, but when rendering with Vray it wouldn't show. That problem is fixed but now, I' can't seem to see throught the glass material when I render and everything inside seems to reflect in the glass. My objective is to have little reflection, see well through the glass and keep the sun comming through.

        sounds to me like your glass is a 1d face and the back of the face is inside. you need to extrude it ,say 1/8" or so and make sure the front faces are out.

          When you say make sure the front faces out, how do I determine that?? Oh and by the way thanks alot for responding so fast, it's really appreciated....I'm trying out the render

            Do not extrude the glass, most rendering engines will produce a better result for glass on a single face with no thickness. Select your glass material in the Vray material editor and change the color in the transparency tab, black for no transparency, white completely transparent, so you can play around with different shades till you get what you like.

              Thanks both of your tips. I tried thickening the glass and it works. I can see through it, light goes through it and there still is a little bit of reflexion. I will still try your tip Max, and again thanks for the help. I often would have problems with rendering but would never think to enter a forum but hey , I'm learning to much and got lots to learn.

                click the icon circled in red. your front faces will show in white and backfaces will show blueish purple. you can select a face then right click and choose reverse faces. it is generally considered good practice to never have backfaces facing you. sooner or later you will run into problems when rendering with most renderers, they will either render white or black no matter how you texture them. 😉
