Ditto that....Thanks for posting these, Paul!

incredible. stunning. wowoww...

Thanks all for the fantastic comments, they mean a lot.
After having worked on this damn project for so long I can't see it as anything else other than a collection of minor annoyances that need fixing, making better etc. So its always nice when fresh sets of eyes see it and write such nice comments.
The phrase 'Familiarity Breeds Contempt' rings a bell
Just so you know I do work on other projects, lots of them in fact, but non really worth posting here.

Hi Paul,
Your work is indeed very impressive. I am fairly new to 3d modeling with SketchUp and am amazed what people like yourself can do with it. I have a friend from NI and was wondering what City or Town this church is in.Keep up the great work.

Gregory,
Its in Lurgan, on North St.Here's a link for Bing Maps, I'd have used Google but they have very little of NI covered.

Mr Russam, all this thread is just unbelievable. Thanks for posting this.

Wow......your renders look incredibly similar to the photos. textures are bang on mate, well done. I bet your model is very very heavy!! I need to read up this thread to see how you lit the scene so naturally. Beauties!! And the tiles......these little details just keep popping up!! Fantastic work. Do you prefer the simple tone mapping? Seem to get richer colours IMO...I love tweaking the image....one of the best features of twilight.

Did a quick anim last night using Smustard's flightpath plugin. Youtube seems to have over compressed the video resulting in the textures looking poor.

Very nice, Paul...
I can imagine that although this is straight SU output, the animation took a loooong time to finish...
You should be happy that you didn't need to turn on shadows and run the animation again... -
Been a bit ill over the past week but spent my time mucking about with animations.
I've knocked this up as a proof of concept, It ends rather abruptly and whilst the music suits, the lyrics don't so if it goes any further I'll have to find something else.

I really like it - very nicely and carefully put together (I don't even want to ask about rendering time).
If you intend to redo the end (and maybe the soundtrack which I like but now irrelevant here), there is a bit of Z-fighting at the end of the video (see attached). It's distracting and annoying enough I guess to get rid of it.
-
Did you try Youtube's Audioswap?
-
really great control of the camera paths in the animations - its hard to do interiors like that and control the speed and arc of the rotation and not run into anything!

Church update:
The builders have been busy, makes you wonder if they're being paid by the shovel full:
They've dug down about 1.2m as they found that there were NO foundations and had to put some in!!
I've been busy on the model but nothing to show at the moment:
New Floor design/patten
New Pew layout/spacing
New altar area
Organ removed revealing 3 new windows -
Hi Paul
Good to see your work again. Loved the video and the FR Ted link brought back a load of good memories - classic. It must have taken you hours to model the church but It is amazing!! Well done our lad!!
-
I'm always amazed how many large old buildings survived for so many years with virtually no foundations. I was studying the old Norwegian Stave churches, which were essentially posts on a stone or rubble. And they have lasted all these years.
Great work . Please keep updating
-
Wow Paul! I'm well impressed!
Fantastic work!
This is what I'm up to, but my 'efforts' are, well efforts!! You have really inspired me now to render my design (something I hadn't planned).

Those capitals are STUNNING! I'm so impressed with your attention to detail. How long did it take you to do this model? How about the capitals too? What was your approach to working on the details?
