This is probably something that could belong in a few of the forum areas but I suppose this was the most relevant... If anyone thinks otherwise, just let me know and i'll move it!

I was wondering what people use for presenting their models to their clients? (Other than the obvious inclusion of renders or videos) I've been experimenting with cubic pano out plugin and stitching it into a quicktime virtual reality. I've also tried looking for and using virtual tour programs (image viewer with map on the side showing where the photo was taken and arrows in the panorama pointing to the next image or something like that).

I was also wondering whether people have also tried ways like this to improve the presentation of the model, with out actually getting the client to move in the model themselves?

Also wondering whether other people would be interested in the idea of a free or cheap plugin/program that could simplify the process of making virtual tours (with the inclusion and producing of cylindrical panoramas or cubic panoramas (I've been using hugin and pano2qtvr for stitching, but something to automate the screenshot process for cylindrical panoramas and improve on the sometimes glitchy shadow output of cubic pano out plugin) and the placement of the render/screenshot location on the map of the model?

You should look over at pushpullbar.com and in particular the stuff the richard does. He's posted some stuff here that will give you a idea of what is possible.

I'll take a look, but I find pushpull bar hard to navigate and comprehend, that's why I like sketchucation so much more!

Good idea for a thread frisken.
I've never really tried panoramas but I might give it a go. I still think physical models are hard to beat. I have used Jim's unfold script a few times to build models from SU, but I'd really like access to a 3d printer. If I had the money I would buy one, as in my area of work there has been a resurgance in client requests for physical models.

My belief is that clients are best served when the presentation is organized. In a meeting, verbal presentation with boards (or powerpoint), and bound letter size documents. When computer info is submitted: video built on SU animation, and/or powerpoint, and/or pdf document. I provide a user controlled model only when it is requested by the client.

But, presentation style is personal, and I believe that any other means of presentation will work as long as the presenter has strong beliefs about what they want to accomplish.

Have you considered 'augmented reality' introduced and discussed in this topic.

I've Seen It around, but haven't looked into it too much, but maybe I will, now that you mention it!
