Here is the second alpha of SketchyPhysics3. Its alpha because it still has bugs and one missing feature (input config).

Next version will probably be beta and then final. and I do mean final. No more features. This version really suffered from feature creep and I am dieing to get back to work on SPIV.

The most important new feature in this release is the long awaited Mac support!! Props go out to Kevin Willey for doing an awesome job porting my questionable (cough) code to work on Mac! 😄

      Changes:
Fixed bug in keyboard where UP/DOWN were reversed.
Fixed bug with converting SP2 empty controllers.
Fixed bug in formulas with space and $
Updated installer to fix bug in SP2. Win32api.so is now installed in plugins/
UI no longer shows up by default.
Added noautofreeze option to bodies. Useful with magnet thruster and gyro.
Exposed accel and damp for Gyro
Added error checking to formulas. Not finished yet.
      More slider control values(start,min, max)
      Added Thrusters option on bodies.
Gyro now has controller for pin direction(vector).

Kevin is going to post about details on the Mac version.

Details for the other changes will be under the different topics:

      Windows version:

      Mac version:

I'm sorry if I'm bugging you but in spiv are you going to have a concave hull or at least a staticmesh that is movable when you
group it twice in stead of bugsplating. that would be very helpful

Sorry Phy but using the newton engine it's flat out impossible to have concave hulls. The staticmesh only works because it's... well, static. We're gonna have to live with using complex groups for complex shapes.

Yeah, convex is a limitation of the physics engine. Nothing I can do about it.

Next version should be in a few days and you can release models made with that one on 3dwarehouse.

did anyone notice that shift double click things stay even after sim is reset. is this normal? i don't think it was this way in SP2 was it?

Yeah, SP3 behaves a bit differently from SP2. After you ran a simulation in SP2 it would "undo" SP3 doesnt do that. It leaves the simulation on the undo stack but doesnt undo it automatically.

That means anything created stays. I'll have to fix that in a future release.

One reason I changed it was so you could edit controllers while the simulation is running.

                            I found a glitch

You can no longer type formulas into the controller for a motor

mabye I wasn't doing it right. Oh well.

Another question: In sketchyphysics2, we could increase the mass of an object by grouping it with a bigger version of itself, setting the bigger copy to "ignore" and then hiding it. Now, SP3 sometimes fails to register this hidden mass. I noticed this when I tried to steer a tank using a flywheel; while the bullets (which have this "hidden mass" technique in them) are the same, the cylander in the flywheel group (motor and the cylander) which is set to ignore, spins but doesn't turn the vehicle. What is this inconsistancy? and finally, did what i said make any sense?

I think I understand but I don't know why. As far as I know that stuff should work the same. Post the model and I will take a look.

                                    Hi Cphillips
Does still exist a manual even short ?
I try to make copies from simple models ( 2 box linked with a motor-joint ) but it seems not to be available. Is there a trick ?

                                    Thanks a lot

MALAISE, until SPIV is out copying anything with joints in, or that is connected to a joint, is a bad idea. The simulation will go crazy, and there is no workaround.

Thank you very, very much for making your great utility available for Mac too.
Time to get started to learn and use, but........
I seem to have a problem, I get an error message restarting SU after download and installation:
                                          Error Loading File SketchyPhysics.rb
                                          Failed to load /Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 7/SketchUp/plugins/SketchyPhysics3/dl.bundle

SketchyPhysics shows in SU, aswell in the Tool Pallettes, as in the plugins and the icons are available/visible.

Any ideas to solve this problem?

                                          greetings,
                                          Ton

any thoughts on adding some type of joint strength? for example a table (legs attached with joints)when dropped from 10' for example, would cause the joints to break thus allowing the legs to go their seperate ways. 😄
