SP3 feature SketchyReplay.
-
SP3 includes some animation recording and playback support.
If you press the Record button on the SketchyReplay tool bar it will toggle recording. If recording is on while the simulation is running it will at the end prompt you to save the animation data. The data is stored in the model.
Once data has been been stored you can play, pause and rewind the animation by using the buttons on the tool bar.
The Plugins->SketchyReplay menu has 2 options. The Export option will save a separate .SKP for each frame of the animation. The Erase option will purge the animation date from the model. Animation data can be quite large.

I had that in mind. It currently exports just to series of .SKP files. But it really could output to just about any format.

oh i see now what it does.... this could potentially be really usefull for indigo animation if it exported to different scene tabs

You mean make a copy of the objects at every frame and unhiding them on each page? I tried that and it works ok for short and/or simple scenes. But anything complex or long and it was too much data. SU was freezing up.

Thank you Cphillips for considering people using render software.
Indeed, the animation spread over scene tabs is the strategy we need to get there.
Too bad it only works for simple scenes, but it would be very cool to have the option. For instance, for archviz, having some cars driving around in streets, doors opening etc...

Is there a way the animation could be automatically made into a separate file?
-
I am willing to work with the render guys to support animation export. But putting the data in the pages isn't really feasible. Sorry.

well I know that Indigo and Kerkythea both support animation export of some kind movie output, and because I'm biased towards Indigo I reckon whaat might like to incorperate this as one of the features of the new version of skindigo he is making...

you reckon right!

yippee!

Maybe you should make an update where you can export in video formats as avi,divx,quicktime...
-
Sequential image output may be possible but not movies.
-
When will you make it??? And is it possible to save every frame as a scene (in any future version???).
-
Yes, each frame as a scene would be super, cause then we can use render engines on it.

The next version will support rendering options better.
