      Hi!
Im using SU7 with maxwell render. The problem is that I can't figure out how to replace simple instances in maxwell studio with complex geometry.
One way is to include object in sketchup and make it proxy object but tree with lots of leaf is really heavy for SU when I must place in my model 50 trees.

I've just started working with this. I may be adding too many rules at this point but it's been working for me. Basically you place a bunch of low polygon trees into your seen which are components named "tree" or "MapleTree01" or something like that (I think it might need to be all 1 word w/ no spaces). Then you bring in your high poly tree and make it a component named "tree_proxy" or "MapleTree01_proxy" depending on what you named your low poly trees. You can then delete the high poly if you want, the important thing is just that it is "in your model" ie. if you go to your components "In Model" list, it'll show up there. I recomend not deleting it though but rather putting it on a layer and just turning that layer off. That way you can still purge and you won't lose it.

Now when you export your model make sure to click the Proxy box in the export options dialogue. It's next to Protect, Transform, and a few other options. That should do it.

Ehmmmm. Ok components are replacing with complex model but they are not instances 😞 Is it possible to make them instances or it's not possible?

I'm not sure I can help there. I THINK they come up as instances w/ my settings but I'm not real sure to be honest. I've never had to worry too much whether they were or weren't. Under geometry I have the following boxes checked: instances, transformations, separate by material, and proxy objects (all except protect). With those settings I can't select my proxy high geometry instances in Maxwell, which I GUESS means they're instances?

Thanks! Protect was the thing πŸ˜„

Cool. I figured there was a reason I turned it off πŸ˜„ As I recall it also grouped everything as one big object too which I didn't like because I'd occassionally like to move a car around or make some adjustments in Maxwell.
