When I first read the title of this post I expected it to be two new Mac O.S versions. O.S Gorilla sounds loads better than O.S Leopard

On topic though, and I think this topic deserves serious discussion, I think we need to look at the facts.

If the fight happened anywhere other than the sea, the shark is going to struggle a bit. However 70.8% of the worlds surface is covered by water so it is more likely that a shark and a gorilla will rumble in the sea. Gorillas live in lowland tropical forests in Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Angola, and Nigeria; and the Cross River on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon. Angola, Nigeria, Congo and Cameroon have coastlines so it is feasible that a gorilla could encounter a shark if it ventured into the sea or swam down an estuary. This raises the question "Can gorillas swim?" I've checked wikipedia, and I can find no reference to gorillas and swimming. Alternatively I suggest airlifting a shark into the jungle.

Secondly are weapons allowed? The gorilla has opposable thumbs which puts a plethora of weapons at its disposable. The best option for the sharks might be to blast a great white out of a cannon in the direction of a gorilla.

All my research was done on wikipedia so it must be true.

Perhaps if they were both in space with little rockets to help them float around. That way they would be in a neutral environment where neither had a particular advantage.

And for the record i reckon the gorilla would win. Theyre crazy strong and way more adaptable than the shark 🎉

We obviously cannot forget that the two come from completely different environment, and that neither can survive in the others. If the shark were on land, it would flop around and eventually die from suffocation. All the gorilla would have to do is sit there and wait for it's protagonist to succumb to asphyxiation.

On the other hand, gorillas are no Michael Phelps. Even if they could swim, the bodies of water they'd be used to in equatorial Africa (streams, ponds) couldn't compare to the open ocean. While the gorrilla flails on the surface, the shark can come from below and chomp it in half.

However, I am assuming in this crazy SketchUp universe that Remus has concocted, the environment is not a factor. Perhaps the shark has gained the ability to move out of the water and use it's tail as feet, much like the main character in the cartoon "Kenny the Shark" (only not so wimpy). Therefor, I'd have to base my judgement on known behavior. Gorillas are often referred to as gentle giants of the forest, rarely attacking people, but rather shying away from them. There's been numerous instances of sharks getting too close to divers and boats, and quite a few attacks. Sharks have also been around much longer than gorillas, and I've heard them described as the perfect predator. I think the gorilla's last (fatal) thought upon seeing the shark would be "oh, look. Another damn eco-tourist."

              My avatar is an anachronism.

When I first read the title I thought it was going to be a sequel to Eagle vs. Shark. 😆

Or alternatively gravity itself could be the weapon; shark plummets onto gorilla, gorilla plummets onto shark and so on. Wikipedia states that [Great White] sharks can weigh as much as 2 tons. An adult male gorilla weighs about 300 to 500 pounds. Not accounting for terminal velocity, if the shark's aim is good, it is clearly going to win this tournament.

It would be deadly combination if Gorilla
would use shark as a weapon.
Like a baseball bat that bites! 😮

I think we have to look at it this way: the Gorilla runs on the ground or jumps from tree to tree, whereas the shark 'swims through the forest air, following the same rules of speed and maneuverability as he would in sea water.

in this scenario the battle could be quite thrilling. the shark can accelerate to tremendous speeds, whereas the gorilla on the ground is much more agile and can change direction quickly and easily hide behind trees and such.
while the shark has dangerous teeth, the gorilla can employ toys to ward off his opponent...

would love to see such a fight.

Perhaps a wrestling suit and some lucrative sponsorship deals for our primate friend, as well.

No the suit will restrict him. We'll shave him bald and body paint him.
Volunteers to shave and paint the gorilla please speak up.

edit: Hot sponsorship deals that spring to mind are Greenpeace, WWF, Friends of the Earth, RSPCA
They'll all want a piece of this.

Plot, The environment that you describe is a good solution. Similar to the agility of the speeder bikes on Endor versus the primitive trickery of the ewoks. I would also suggest sponsorship deals, get the shark covered in logos.

Yeah I'm feeling that, well in that case the shark will have to wear one too.

perhaps we could just slap some stickers on the shark, that way we wouldnt have to worry about making sure the suite didnt get caught in its fins etc.
