    Hi Guys,

Just wondered if it is possible to control the field of view in Layout or Layout 2 when setting up views to achieve similar looks that sketchup can produce.

    Many thanks in advance

      Hi J,

Sure it is. Double click on the SU model in LO then right click and choose Camera tools > Zoom.

Just like in SU, zooming while holding down the Shift key will let you change the FOV with one difference; while in SU you can enter an exact value while doing this, you cannot do it in LO (at least there is no way that I'd know of). In this case you should set it in SU and maybe set differently on different scenes.

Thanks for the quick repsonse. Shame you cannot manually type a degree for FOV in Layout maybe the next version or update may have this option.

Create Scenes in SU and select them in LO.

If you want to get fancy, you can rename your layout file to have a ".zip" extension, then open the xml file with a text editor and you can do tons of cool things. I had a minimal post on this back in SU 6, but I'll try to play around in SU 7 and see how it works.

in concept could use excel or mail merge on world to batch create Layout documents from a bunch of different files.

Indeed there are a lot to explore inside that zip file! PNG images of the SU model with transparent background for instance...
