Dividing line problem?
-
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just the way it has always worked and I hadn't noticed. If I draw a line, select it, and divide it into, say 60 parts by tying 60 in the Measurements window, I an left with the 59 newly created segments selected, but the originating section not selected. I had always assumed that all 60 segments would remain selected. Is this how this has always worked, or is it different with v7?

Hi Dik,
I have just tried in both v6 and v7 and my selection remains that all segments are still selected no matter I type the value or just "slide" the cursor.

Gaieus,
Any idea what I could be doing wrong?:?: The problem happens consistently. I'm attaching a video capture of my dividing using the mouse, just so you'll know I'm not imagining things.
Not the best quality, hope you can see what I'm doing.
Is it possible that there is a preference setting that might be causing this?
-
Hm. I don't know. In your video the line itself doesn't even seem to be selected before you divide it (i.e. it doesn't turn blue). Is that the case or just I cannot see it?
I also see that you are using cross hairs so I turned them on as well and still nothing.
I tried with every possible settings in Preferences > Drawing but consistently get the (I guess "normal") result.

It doesn't matter whether I draw the line and right click, right click on the unselected line, or select the line then right click, the results are the same.
I also have a previously noted problem that when executing an export of an animation, the dialog does not always show the proper feedback. the Frame Of counter is not correct, the Progress Bar is wrong, and the Time Remaining is wrong (going negative). However unlikely, I wonder if these have something in common?
I would try uninstalling and reinstalling v7, but the same problems are present in v6 also.
Any ideas from the developers?

Hey Dik, I just tried it and it works fine for me too. I think it could be a ruby. Try removing them all temporarily and then see if that fixes it. Then put chunck of rubies back in place and keep testing it to try and figure out which is breaking it.

Chris,
Thanks for the advice, I had thought about that, but felt that something that basic would not be interfered with by a plugin.
Well, I found the culprit. Unfortunately, it is SU Animate. Since I use that extensively, I guess I'll have to live with it until SU Animate is fixed. In fact, The reason I usually divide lines is to create "curves" for paths for SU Animate...

Ah, good to see you have the culprit - can you notify the author of SU Animate about this? That would be best.
