Another question about Dynamic components and re-sizing
-
Is it possible in Sketchup to have individual 'lines' in a component which stay a constant length when the component is re-sized using the scale tool.
I have attached an example which shows what I am referring to.
If there is, can anyone explain how?

I think the only way of doing this is by making each line a DC, not very intuitive but i think it can be made to work.

Break the component into 3 sections - the 2 ends and a middle. Then you can fix the length and position of the ends in relation to the middle, and only allow scaling to change the middle.
Here's an example.

Jim.
Thanks, that's exactly what I need.
I thought about multiple components, but when I tried it the edges between the three components showed which I did not want.
How did you hide yours? -

Well, just like you hide any edge. Use the tool with the SHIFT key.

Thanks Jim.
I was not aware of that option (the shift key on the erase tool) - most of my Sketchup experience so far has been for personal stuff and I have so far gotten by with the basics and various tutorials.
It's only recently with the rlease of V7 and the introduction of Dynamic Components that I have taken a more detailed interest in SU for more serious projects. I see I still have a lot to learn. Thanks again.
