Solo Town

These are great Pete. The use of a very good model helps also.
Loving the fog effect created in Vue
-
Hey Pete,
They all look great. Now once again my mind has been paused with which render Program to purchase. I assume that Vue is geared towards exterior renderings? I noticed the one you did of the Coke and Pot, it looks very good. Which Vue is the one you use? Thanks for your input.Cheers, Jeff

Thanks guys.
Jeff, most of my Vue renders was done with version 6, I currently use Vue 7 infinite.
Okay, these are the last of the Solo-town renders.
This one is another Vue render, what i like is the atmosphere is a dusk one that gives reflected color on the glass and slight color on buildings which are colorless. Now this is a Podium render, i used the noisey preset and IMO the only true clay rendering of the lot.
There is also more details added. For larger size: http://www.websitetoolbox.com/tool/post/supodiumforum/vpost?id=3135669&pid=30241964#post30241964

My favourite is the first render with plants in it. It looks so slick, I felt like giving you money.

Getting better and better , nice vue render there
-
Pete.
All of the renders capture a number of different details. From architectural to environmental. I have to say my favorite is the dusk one. The sky is what enhances the entire look. The reflections are for me the icing on the cake. They add their own depth to an incredible scene. Incredible detail without being overdone. -
Awesome stuff. Vegetation done in vue?
-
Looks awesome!
I'd love to give Vray a try, but I just can't justify the price.
-
Thanks guys.
Steelers, yes the color vegetation is Vue, the 3D mesh ones are from 3D tree generator.
I have done the apartment (flats) and added it to scene, unfortunatly I have come to the end of SU as a tool from here and will need to continue in Max as SU's poly limit is about reached.
These are both Podium 1,6

Beautiful work. Are the roof tiles modeled or displacement?
-
Pete... I'm impressed..!!
You seem to be able to surprise me (in the most positive way..!!) over and over again...!!! -
If you fancy uploading or sending the skp i can run it through maxwell render, i recon it would make a good comparison!
(although obviously maxwell takes a little longer!)
-
Thanks again guys.
Karlfucious, there is no bumps, displacement or textures, everything is modelled, every brick, roof tiles, etc.
Decipher, I would like to but seems that the models are to be purchased after all, with an additional three that I have still to do.

Pete,
When you say continue in Max, do you generally just assemble your scene in Max and continue to model in SU? I'm really curious about your Max/SU integration. Do you do any rendering in Max?
-
Adam,
It's been a long time since I played with Max as far as modeling goes (not that much in the GUI has changed over the years) , so no I will just assemble there as it will handle high poly's with ease (even with the choking SU at at same time), I mentioned about a client that wanted something similar who has decided to take these plus a few others, I normally dispatch in .ma or .max for him to forward to his 'texture guy' for completion.
I do however render in Max occassionaly, normally for studio pre production product illustrations using Mental-ray, but that market was very niche and has slowed down to a crawl due to current economic conditions.
-
Pete,
Yeah, we are feeling the hurt from the economy as well. Hope things get back to normal soon.
You should check out this plugin for Mental Ray - http://www.3dtotal.com/services/pluggins/bluecherry_shop.asp It turns Mental Ray into Podium. ....and it's only $15.
