I just opened up the file I have been working in for a moth now and for some weird reason every line is now 'soft' which is kinda screwing this model up haha. So if anyone has heard of this and/or knows how to fix it that would be very helpful.

      Thanks!

Try selecting all model and go to Window/Soften Edges and move slider back down.

Well the problem with doing that is that I have a lot of 'soft' edges in my model that need to stay that way.

As a last resort, holding ctrl+shift with the eraser tool unsoftens edges, although it would take a long time to go through a large model. Oh, turning on hidden geometry would also be necessary (view->hidden geometry.)

huh, that's a cool little combo I didn't know about. thanks.

has anyone experienced my problem before? I just opened up the file and everything was softened... very strange.

I havent experienced that exact problem, but occasionally i get groups (seemingly) randomly smoothing when theyre exploded. Seems quite common when you import things although ive never been able to work out the exact reason why.
