Google Sketchup Pro 7 is out

Does a free version available too? (not Pro)
-
Not that I could see....but try re downloading and see if it's 6 or 7. Just a thought.

No real love and passion behind the development of this product anymore i fear.
-
well before I go all giddy and Jumping up and down, I would like to hear something about the new features. . .
- is it really just 6 with a lot of the plugins now built-in?
- Is there a render tool included or is that still third party?
- Any new tools?
- Can it bake bread? Im on lo-carbs tho'
But you know. Let's hear some Chatter people!!!
-
David my guess is that we're too stunned to chatter!
-
Antialias preferences tool is quiet nice for textures.

So far..........looks like
1- Layout 2 included
2- Style builder included
3- Dynamic Components - looks very cool, especially whem combined with cost attributesA quick animation test indicates that the shadow bug is still there.

Wonder why they've chosen to release it on a Saturday...?!?
Hi Frederik,
I suspect they are installing bits from the bottom up. You can buy a license but it's not there on the main Download page yet. Quite possibly there will more updates to more pages, hour by hour, through the weekend. Once it's all in place, the official Press Release goes out, etc. After all, you can't go announcing it before folks can buy it ... Excuse me ... Vaporware? ... OK, I suppose you can announce it prematurely, but you shouldn't.

Look here!

Enavas,
While that says Version 7 it is actually saying version 6 once downloaded. I did not finish the install just on case it was going to overwrite something. I would imagine if it truly was version 7 they would have fixed the install screen. I think I will wait for the official release and let them work the kinks out on the main page.

**Guys, the joy of exploring and discovering is yours.
Wait till Google announces all the news;
after all they are the ones who know it best** -
Remus is this a Beta? not a final release?
Well I'm installing the SU7 pro version now for the 8 hour trial. I'll upgrade my SU pro 6 license when I'm convinced its safe. I'll be checking out Layout 2 too, I really hope Google have sorted it out.
Ok installed
First thing I've found the desktop icon still has the same problem on Vista that SU6 does, it will open SU but it is very slow. Instead I ctrl-alt-deleted and right clicked >open with SU7< on an existing file, SU 7 opened straight away. You can import psd files, interesting. I'm struggling to see any new tools though. Maybe they need to be discovered. Shadow bug, nice to see your still there.
Layout looks slightly better. Transparent backgrounds in SU windows and smoother toggling. But you still can't draw a thinner line than 0.1
-
Hi all,
First, SketchUp 7 is smart for intersecting overlapping lines.
Second, Shortcuts come from version 6, when you install plugins.
Let's continue exploring

ok a couple of things I've found, sorry if this is annoying and you have already found these things or wanted the fun of finding stuff.
Component attributes looks very useful
Right click editing a texture can link to your image editor.
Smooth tool is a lot more reactive than in SU7
Option to make a component out of a section slice
object toggles are nice!!!The anti-aliased setting does not improve the display quality on my machine, does it depend on certain graphics cards?
Just a little thingI think I prefered SU6's red icons to SU7's Google blue. I'll be quiet now.
