On all the time, ive gotten to the stage where i automatically blank them out. Saying that, they can be very useful for orientating yourself in large models.

                    Hi Susan, hi folks.

On when modeling and off when I want to present pictures or the 3D model to convey an idea.

Also, in most of the tutorials I do, I have the axes visible for the first scene in order for the viewer to get some orientation. Then for succeeding scenes, I usually turn the axes off.

                    Just ideas.

I wonder what percentage of SketchUp users are bona fide architects and what the others use it for?

Actually, I don't think it matters what sort of design professional you are. If you are merely playing around and creagting objects for your own interest, having axis on is of no interest. As soon as you need to create a complex model where you either have complex relationships or need to adhere to some sort of plans, you really need the axis. At the very least using the axis locking arrow keys is not easy if you have axis off and then you are forced to only use the shift option.

Always model with it on, but turn it off when showing scenes or exporting for presentation. I'd lose track without it.

By the way, I actually used to look like this about thirty-five years ago... 😎

Always off unless Im working on planes that have a non default axis.
I figure if you cant tell the top from the bottom, the front from the back, particularly as its indicated with every move or line, its time for a coffee, a nap or a quick walk in the fresh air. πŸ˜„

OFF OFF OFF. I find them distracting. I already know which way is up, although some here may disagree with that!
