I wouldnt be surprised if it was £20, and if the SU site says it is, cant really argue with that.

On a slight side note, you dont really get much more with the pro version. Layout is the only big thing, but its still pretty buggy really.

Actually, the big differences are in the Export formats and capabilities. For instance, the free version limits image-file types, the Pro adds vector files (DWG, 3DS, etc.). See here in details:
        http://www.suwiki.org/suwiki/index.php?title=The_Differences_Between_SketchUp_Pro_and_Google_SketchUp

Also, I do not know if Google SketchUp has a different policy, but in the US, Faculty are allowed (encouraged!) to share their own year-long free Pro licenses with their students. See here:
        http://www.google.com/sketchup/customers/edu/tertiary.html

        Hope this helps.

        Cheers,

PS The price is about right, in U$ the student's year-long Pro license is 49, renewable every year as long as you are a student AND the amount spent is accredited towards the commercial license.

It is a fairly simple process to get your models in the appropriate formats using other pieces of free software.

That's true, but you have no real control over the scale of such exports, as the main route is to formats like 3ds or obj.
That may be fine for hobby modellers but if you are using it in any kind of professional manner and need to interface easily with other CAD programs it's much better to use the real thing...even if that means paying the small amount for the student license.

Twenty Pounds? Really? Go for it, I'd say. Great deal!

But, do you need to pay £15 every year, or is it just one payment?

It's for every academic year (so something like a yerly subscription).

However when you finish school/college/univ, this subscription you have paid so far will count into the price of a full version should you decide you want to purchase it.

                  Gai...

Cool, one question, now Sketchup 7 is out, how much is it with Student License, and is it same as 6 pro in the year payments?

                    Mike

I cant see any reason why it would be more expensive. All the other licenses are the same price.
