Layout animation/powerpoint
-
Hello,
Nearly everything I've read about Layout mentions its presentation (paper and digital)capabilities and the possiblities of using animations within the presentations. However playing around with it I can't find any other options other than saving it as a PDF?
I currently export my project images directly from sketchup and import them straight into Powerpoint, then send my clients the powerpoint presentation.
However having played around with Layout I would prefer to try and use it over powerpoint (I would have more control over the over all graphic look) but I cannot figure out how to animate the finished pages/create a presentation once I'm happy with them.
Is this actually possible?
Any help appreciated.

Hi Andster and Welcome,
I understand what you want to achieve. LayOut has great possibilities
but is not used that much by the community. I will see what help is
available on this subject and get back to you.Mike

In the first version of LO, you would do View->Full Screen to do a presentation.
To do an animation in full screen mode, it doesn't animate the pages, it can
animate the SU models. Double clicking on the SU model will put you in orbit mode,
right click on it and select Play Animation to animate through the Scenes. -
Thanks J, its good to know that we have we GSU guys keeping a
eye on thingsMike

Thanks for the advice guys.
So forgetting the possiblity of animating within LO (I know how to run an animation in SU), what are the presentation options other than using the actual LO software itself to drive the presentation.
For example, what would LO offer me in competition to my exisiting method of presenting SU ideas to clients? My current method being exporting a still of my view in SU > importing that view into a template made up in Powerpoint > combining multiple pages in powerpoint and sending presentation as powerpoint slideshow as an independant file to the client via email?
I usually add in a quick animation made up in SU with the powerpoint file, but I was hoping LO might offer an competitive solution to this method. Am I barking up the wrong tree here?
Thanks

Do your clients ever ask for changes to your SU model?
Something to be a different color?
How about if they want to move a door a window? Add a car or
dog in the driveway? If so wouldn't it be nice to do those changes
in SU, and then just tell your presentation to update? LO will
automatically rerender all your images.
You can also export your LO doc to PDF. -
Unfortunately yes they are constantly asking for changes to be made (don't they all?), but it seems just as easy to make the changes in SU > re-export the scenes > exchange the attached Jpeg images in Powerpoint.
I generally only use 2-3 images, so it doesn't take a lot of effort, especially as I have pre-selected layout sheets within powerpoint.
I see the advantage of just clicking 'update' in LO, but if it doesn't have the presentation power (as in sending a presentation to a client as opposed to presenting to them directly from my PC) then it falls short of my current method in my opinion.
I'm not 'anti' LO, as it has some good features, but from my current knowledge it seems to have more restrictions than powerpoint in a real project situation. I know I can export the pages as PDFs and then set up the PDFs as full screen, but it seems like a lot of effort to replicate what powerpoint does so easily (though I'm not a big fan of powerpoint anyway - hence this post regarding the cabilities of LO).
Thanks for the advice guys.

Why not make a "screen capture" of the SU LO screen animation and make a video?
Result can be a Flash, or any video format!
Try Proper animation by Morisdov for animate Objects separately of the Camera's movement!
