I continue to struggle with selecting specific points and faces when there are other points in the area. Is there a way to force SU to ignore some points and to select only certain points? Or can I turn the snapping off temporarily and do it manually?

For the manual option, a magnifying glass around the snap area, like the latest VectorWorks, would be a godsend. My mouse has a magnifier, but it's not much help. Within the snap radius, VW also highlights all available snap points to make selection easier.

There isnt a way of turning of inferencing at all, for better or for worse.

Probably the easiest workaround is to just zoom in on the area you want to select.

As SU model becomes more and more complex, you need to use Components and Groups. This will isolate those models. If they get in your way, just “hide” them or “Lock” them. Locking is good because selection tool no longer snap to it. After making all those Groups and Components, use Window > Outliner to control there state.

            Hi Ridix, hi folks.

The inference engine will get inferences from geometry, even if they are part of a locked group or component.

The only way of avoiding the inference engine from getting inferences from some geometry is to hide it or to put it on a hidden layer.

            Just ideas.
