WELCOME TO THE SCF 2008 USA ELECTION FORUM
-
Sorry to shout, but it's getting kinda hard to hear myself think with all this racket going on.
I'll happily (or angrily) discuss politics face to face into the wee hours over a beer or 8, but is anyone else really sick of the disproportionate number of threads in the SCF Corner Bar devoted to arguing the merits and drawbacks of the candidates in the 2008 USA election lately?
Yes, the election is important and no, not just to Americans, but there are currently eight threads in the CB some of which amount to nothing more than shots back and forth between immovable objects.... and when someone doesn't feel their point was made enough in a current thread they just start a new one... yawn.
Admin please bring back the SCF politics subforum as the CB is feeling less like a bar and more like a political demonstration about to turn nasty.
-
Yes it's a popular subject for the next two weeks than fortunately or unfortunately it will fade away. The threads do tend to resolve themselves into people agreeing to disagree and then we move on. The fact that there are eight threads is because there are multiple issues being discussed relative to politics.
It's kind of like the olden days when you went to a bar to drink beer, you always smelled like cigarettes afterwords even if you did not smoke.

Not really. It's mainly down to you spamming the board with all the anti_McCain or Palin links you can find.
I couldn't care less about the American election, but your spamming of this board has made me wish I could vote so that I'd vote for McCain.

Johnsenior, I don't think Phil is spamming the board with anti-McCain links. I've had some "conversations" with him and don't see it this way and I'm a conservative.

Yea I've gotten a wild hair up my arse lately I'm not a very social person mainly just do my job and take care of my family. I work at home alone in my home office. I consider the people I've met through Sketchup as friends so I'm expression my opinion on this forum. It is the corner bar after all. But even in a bar it's possible to offend people or to blab too much after a few too many drinks.
SO tell me what you would rather talk about and If I have anything to communicate with you about that subject I'll give the politics a rest for a while.

I'm English, but I've lived in the US for two years. As I'm only a permanent resident I cannot vote in elections.

Jackson, i know what you mean. Hopefully it will all blow over in another month and we'll be able to start lamenting over the poor choices the president is making, and how we cant wait for the next election.

That's what I'm dreading most: weeks of "we told you so" and "well, don't blame me if the country goes to the dogs". LOL

Remus, you hit the nail on the head. I cannot envy whoever gets elected.

Well, now that you've explained, it obviously makes sense for the rest of the Americans on the forum to accommodate themselves to your situation. If only you'd mentioned this sooner.

McCain selected Palin as Vice President already shows that he is not the best choice for President. Palin has no experience in diplomatic, and she only know nothing about economy. She do not have her plan, and she even don’t know what the Vice President should do. She cannot cooperate with the McCain complains. McCain also know a little about her. The only reason that McCain chose Palin is to make the people make the focus to him. He only want the “Wow” from the people.
It is risky to choose him to be president. What people will he choose to form the government if he be the president? What is his standard for choosing people? If he be the president, will the policy also only for show off but without any useful value?
