    Hello:

One of the most difficult things I am dealing with is the Drape command.
Is anyone aware of a way to drape entities to a sandbox/model, but have those entities keep it's original layer? or be able to specify the layer it will become.

    Many thanks, in advance.

I dont think their is a direct way of doing this, although you can go in to the mesh (after youve done the drape), select the outline, ctrl-x it on to the clipboard then edit->paste in place before grouping it. From there you can put it on a layer.

Seeing as the drape tool is a ruby, some kind person might be able to alter it to group the result separately. might be worth posting a request on the ruby forum.

edit: that last bit about being able to edit it isnt right 😳

        Hello,

Note that any geometry created in any way (using the drawing tools, intersecting, draping and such) will always be created on the active layer.

So to assign any draped lines on a specific layer on the fly, just make that layer active (with the round radio button left of its name).

        Gai...
